Cris began her career by clerking with the late Honorable Robert J. Kelleher in the United States Court for the Central District of California in 1994. Judge Kelleher influenced her with his integrity, class, and his love of both the law and good lawyering. Cris represented Judge Kelleher as his own personal lawyer until his passing in 2011. A great teacher, he taught her to command a courtroom, never back down, and to be prepared.
Cris founded the Armenta Law Firm in 2005 after her tenure as a Senior Litigaton Associate at Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom, following her training at the former Alschuler Grossman & Pines. One of her early mentors taught Cris to always consider strategy, to keep an eye on the end-game, to capitalize on being underestimated, and to eat your opponent's M&M's when they leave them in plain sight. Her long-time friend Judge Kelleher introduced her to federal court and his memory is a constant reminder of the significance of good briefing and character in the courtroom.
Cris is a tenacious litigator and strategist. Her practice areas include overall client strategy, real estate litigation, corporate disputes, and copyright and trademark claims. Many of her clients have been with her for more than fifteen years. Clients include CEO's, medium-sized businesses, high net worth individuals, clients with civil and criminal matters needing coordination, and celebrities with public figures with crisis management. Cris is adept at managing other lawyers nationwide for her clients and advising clients on making smart, cost-benefit decisions.
